QLD Rugby Club, Brisbane

The Queensland Rugby Club engaged Paynter Dixon to design and construct a multi-faceted business precinct with the view to creating a club that would provide members with a first class facility in one of Brisbane’s premier positions. Given its waterfront location, Paynter Dixon worked under stringent safety and noise restriction guidelines during the demolition and construction.

The existing building underwent a complete redesign and refit to house a 330 seat function centre with a dedicated kitchen, beverage and toilet facilities. Fitted out with acoustic bifolds, The Strand can support two private functions at the same time. With its stylish corporate fixtures and state-of- the-art technology, patrons can enjoy conferences or functions while taking in the magnificent views through the full-length glazing surrounding the venue.

The design and construction of a 1st level addition to the precinct became Queensland Rugby Club’s new home. Entering the Club via a grand stairwell, members can choose to enter the private Benefactors Lounge containing an upmarket boardroom, lounge and meeting area, or proceed to Tempo’s Bar and Restaurant. Finishes are of a high standard of sophistication. With its indoor and outdoor drinking and dining areas, the Club has raised the bar for member’s facilities within the CBD enhanced by outstanding city and river views.
